No Distance Over Dinner

26th October 2018

And so, this is literally the first chance I’ve had to sit down (pun may be intended) and write properly in two weeks. Or something. I should take a tape recorder on my travels. Isla has been off school for two weeks on sneaky Scottish school holidays that used to be for farming, and are now for nothing. But, we did stuff with those two weeks. There was a lot of riding shotgun for me. I love road trips. Listening…

Getting Lost and Found in London

8th June 2018

‘I only give Purple Monkey to people I love.  So here.’ Isla shoved the aptly-named purple monkey in my face.  This recentish favorite creature was rescued from an otherwise depressing trip a safari park, back when Pokemon Go was still a thing. Purple Monkey follows Isla wherever she goes, every second Tuesday. I felt quite special when Isla decided I could take PM to The Bloggers Bash. We’d been at Dad’s for a barbecue.  With no marshmallows.  Made no sense,…

Blogging Is Supposed To Be Fun

22nd May 2018

Over the weekend, I met a bunch of groovy people, drank a lot, saw Deadpool 2, kissed my husband at the top of the London Eye. And snagged Second Best Overall Blogger at the Annual Bloggers Bash. First, I want to thank anyone who nominated or voted for Gin & Lemonade .  This giant, global blogging community is a wonderful thing, and…

My Mother Has A Condition

9th April 2018

Our most recent family road-trip was a weekend in St. Andrews.  We were up with the birds on all the days. We actually loaded the car on Friday, after a coffee with my Dad in honor of my Grandma’s birthday, and I (humbly?) shouted from the blog-tops about the Annual Bloggers Bash Awards. Baked potatoes and cheese for breakfast on the road, which Isla and I actually paraded in front of cheese-phobic Neil.  (She may look like him, but she’s…

When Your Child Has No Inside Voice

25th March 2018

Picture it:  A crowded restaurant.  A table full of friends.  All other tables full of strangers.  And a three-year-old with absolutely no inside voice. I was having dinner with friends I haven’t seen since my wedding (nearly five years ago, how did that happen?) There was music and memories.  Hot chocolate with impressive whipped cream, and lots of coffee and more than a few laughs. There was also a locked accessible toilet.  Some people would call that an inaccessible toilet.  But…
