Two Years Of Shots

10th August 2012

Today is Gin & Lemonade’s second birthday.  My move from Glasgow to Edinburgh is not so recent any more and I no longer have a cat who thinks she’s a dog.  I don’t even have a boyfriend, because he’s now my fiance. A few days after I posted my first blog birthday post, I dumped some coffee on Hemingway and he left me.  And then he came back.  Since then things have gotten weird and more weird. While I’m still…

Blogging Against Disablism Day 2012: This Is How I Roll

1st May 2012

Today is Blogging Against Disablism Day, 2012. I am disabled.  Mostly by society. I am on wheels.  Everyone should know this by now.  Regular readers, anyone who reads my About page, people I’ve worked with, laughed with, gotten lost with, my parents and the man who loves me.  That’s everyone. What people may not know is this:  I am totally OK with it.  My CP means that I will never run a marathon.  I may drive one, though.  It means…

Yes, I'm The Bride. Who Are You?

2nd April 2012

I have a confession to make.  I have not been planning/dreaming of my wedding since I was six years old.  There are no scrapbooks, files, dog-eared wedding magazines from the ‘80’s.  The first and only time I made any kind of short-lived scrapbook, I glued my fingers together.  True story. Two and a half years ago, I began to picture myself married.  To Sarge.   Being married, that is.  Not the wedding. And so, when we began to discuss what the…

Give Me Your Best Shot

28th December 2011

And so, I’m back in front of Hemingway with a cup of coffee a safe distance away.  We got to Glasgow after dark on Christmas Eve, met with hugs and pretzels.  We then settled down to watch Bad Santa for the second time in 24 hours.  Followed by Mr Popper’s Penguins, during which I fell asleep.  Sarge still hasn’t forgiven me. The air-mattress was the same height as the couch.  I may have rolled from one to the other and…

I Don’t Sleep With My Colleagues

5th December 2011

Sarge and I still date. Each other. It’s allowed. And also important. When he’s working late, and I’m not working enough, dating is a way for us to remember what the other one looks like without tired eyes (his) or PMS (mine). These days, our dates are weekend trips to the movies after having coffee that Sarge doesn’t have to make for me. And I promise, these dates do differ from our nights in with fish and chips and a…
