‘Is this some kind of cross-over show?’ I was watching Paw Patrol and thought I saw Nella from Nella the Princess Knight. ‘No, Nella has a pink dress. That’s a blue dress,’ said Isla. Oh, of course. And so begins Snow Day #2 in the Frosty North. School is closed, Neil can’t drive out of the driveway to get to the shops. He shovelled for half an hour before school called off. We had to replace our snow-tires last year,…
Medium-known fact/disclaimer: I’m an American living in Scotland. I know a lot of people and more than half of them live not here. I have been sending and receiving airmail since I was 12 years old. These are my personal tips on how to send stuff to people who live where you don’t, while still keeping your bank account happy. And theirs, too. Most of the stuff I send goes to people in the US. If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that Isla was in her first school Christmas play this week. She was an angel. We are not particularly religious, but an awkward stage debut is a rite of passage. She stood on that stage, all crooked wings and halo. Singing and signing the songs. The loudest word she sang was ‘CELEBRATE!’ And I was *this-close* to leaping from my seat and shouting ‘Get it, baby.’ Because that was my BABY on…
